Gearlie Byrd
March 19, 1932 - December 10, 2010

BYRDSTOWN--Gearlie "Buddy" Byrd died Friday, December 10, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
He was born March 20, 1932 in Pickett County, to Rosier Byrd and Bessie Moon Byrd, who both preceded him in death. He was married for more than 50 years Reba Wilson Byrd until her death in 2009. He served one tour in Korea with the U.S. Army and later attended Tennessee Technological University. He began working in the banking industry at Pickett County Bank in 1960 and retired from Fentress County Bank in 1997 after 23 years with that bank.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol Clark and her husband Steve of Clarksville, TN; one son, Ken Byrd and Paula Bryant of Byrdstown; granddaughter, Heather Clark and her fiance Alberto Mendoza of Clarksville; grandson, Chris Clark and his wife Lisa of Pleasant View, TN; one great-granddaughter, Ensleigh Clark; one half-brother, Notie Byrd and one half-sister, Tweety Byrd Baker. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Oleta Byrd Judd; Gerald Byrd; one half-brother, Roger Byrd and his step-mother, Bessie Manis Byrd.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 14th at Brown Funeral Chapel in Byrdstown.

Jeffery Kent Elder
November 28, 1961 - December 9, 2010

BYRDSTOWN--Jeffery Kent Elder, (better known as Jeff), 49, 1313 Olympus Drive, Byrdstown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
He was born Nov. 28, 1961 to James and Charlotte Crouch Elder in Livingston. Jeff lived most of his live in Overton and Pickett Counties. He was owner and operator of Elder Real Estate in Byrdstown and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Livingston. Jeff loved the outdoors and sports. Survivors include; wife, Debbie Crabtree Elder, Byrdstown; three step-sons, Bryan, Nathan and Nick Elder, all of Byrdstown; parents, James and Charlotte Elder of Livingston; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gale & Eva Copeland of Byrdstown; one sister, Lori Burnett and husband Don; one brother, Bruce Elder and wife Donna, all of Livingston; two sister-in-laws, Susan Parlo & husband Bob, Calhoun GA, and Diane Copleland, Byrdstown; four nieces, Rachel Elder, Brittney, Jaclyn and Blaire Parlo; four nephews, Daniel Elder, Eli and Ben Estes and Hunter Burnett.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delmer and Edna Crouch and Robert C. and Juel Elder.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at First Methodist Church of Livingston with Bro. Craig Green, Bro. Rick Cross and Bro. Randy Tompkins officiating and burial at Lovelady-Sims Cemetery in Byrdstown. Pallbearers included; Bill Capps, Burton Capps, Frank Capps, John Capps, Ernie Elder and Kenny Elder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, First Methodist Church of Livingston, Smyrna Church or the Lovelady-Sims Cemetery in Byrdstown. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.
