Alma Ozell Chilton Pennington
March 6, 1918 - February 11, 2011

BYRDSTOWN--Alma Ozell Chilton Pennington, 92, 943 West Main St. Byrdstown, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
She was born March 6, 1918 to the late John Wesley and Effie Maynord Chilton in Overton Co. and lived most of her life in Akron, OH. Mrs Pennington was a housewife and attended the Lovelady Christian Church. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by: four husbands, Joseph David Phillips, Philip A. Fickle, Chester A. Walter and Nelson A. Pennington; one son, Donald Gerald Phillips; one daughter, Margaret Maloney; one step-son, Leslie Fickle; one brother, Lester Chilton.
Survivors include one daughter, Holly M. DiBona, Cuyahoga Falls, OH; one son, Philip Gerald Fickle, Byrdstown; one step-son, Charles Fickle, Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Colean Hill, Byrdstown; two brothers, Pete Chilton, Byrdstown and Robert Chilton, New Castle, IN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
The family chose cremation with no memorial services. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.

Pete Surrett
January 21, 1920 - February 8, 2011


BYRDSTOWN--Pete Surrett, 91, Pickett Care and Rehabilitation Center, 129 Hillcrest Dr., Byrdstown passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was born January 21, 1920 in Whitesville, WV to the late O.A. and Lelia Honacker Surrett and has lived the past six years in Pickett Co. Mr. Surrett was a retired owner of Miracle Cleaners in Dunbar, WV and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Byrdstown. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Dora Surrett and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Surrett of Monroe; and Mary Susan Haynes and husband Mike of Round Hill, VA; three granddaughters, Regan Serman (Clint), Jessica Erickson (Mike) and Laura Fluhr (Justin); one great-grandson Isaac Haynes Serman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tim Bufford officiating with burial at Beaty Cemetery. Pallbearers include Wendel Flowers, Clois Brown, Jeff Amonett, Clint Serman, Justin Fluhr and Mike Erickson. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.

Naomi Copeland Hamby
March 22, 1921 - January 27, 2011

DEXTER, MO--Naomi (Copeland) Hamby, 89, passed away January 27, 2011 at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, MO. She was born March 22, 1921 in Byrdstown to the late James M. and LoDelia Amonett Copeland.
On June 13, 1943 she was invited in marrige to Thurman G. Hamby in Bowling Green, OH and he preceded her death on March 7, 1976. Other than her husband and parents she was preceded in death by; two sons, J.C. Hamby and Willie E. Hamby; one daughter Nancy Luna; three brothers, Noman, Noel and Noble Copeland. Survivors include; one son, Robert Hamby & wife Donna of Annapolis, MD; four daughters Margaret Ivie of Bloomfield, MO, Brenda McMullin & husband Larry of Essex, MO, Janie Ament & husband Steve of Peoria, IL and Jessie Hamby of Byrdstown; one sister, Noema Mathison of Byrdstown; four brothers, Nolen Copeland & wife Nellie of Allardt, TN, Noah Copeland & wife Bonita of Duxico, Mo. and at Mrs. Hamby’s time of death brother, Norman Copeland of Byrdstown; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 26, 2011 at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Bro. Terry Barber officiating.
