Howard Steve Skelton
June 16, 1948 - May 21, 2011

BYRDSTOWN--Howard Steve Skelton, 62, 849 Clark Mountain Rd., Byrdstown, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his residence.
He was born June 16, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to the late Howard T. and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Coker Skelton. Mr. Skelton worked most of his life at American Commercial Barge Co., was a Veteran serving in the Army and lived the past several years in Pickett County. Other than his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Louise Skelton.
Survivors include: daughter, Christina Skelton; two step-sons, Gordon William Beason & wife Sherry, Salt Lake City, UT and Walter James Beason, Kokomo, IN; stepmother, Frankie Skelton, Waynesboro, TN; one sister, Judy Jones, Pleasant View, TN; three half sisters, Vickie Skelton, Waynesboro, TN., Jeannie Anderson, Dickson, TN., and Janie Collins, Collinwood, TN; one step-sister, Nancy Carolyn Pipes, Lawerenceburg, TN; one half brother, Tom Skelton, Lawerenceburg, TN; three step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, other family members and friends. The family has chosen cremation with a private service at a later date. Special care provide by Brown Funeral Chapel.

Marilyn Chrystelle Smith
August 20, 1924 - May 18, 2011

BYRDSTOWN--Marilyn Chrystelle Smith "better known as Toots", 86, 1466 Lovelady Rd., Byrdstown, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 20, 1924 in Pickett Co. to the late Floyd and Ona Gunnels Smith. Ms. Smith lived most of her life in Pickett Co. and was a retired shirt factory employee and clerk. She was also a member of the Midway Christian Church. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by brother, John H. Smith and sister, Elizabeth Smith Groce.
Survivors include; sister-in-law, Louise Smith, Crossville, TN; eight nieces & nephews, Rebecca Groce Sells (Tony), Cookeville; Terri Smith Taylor (Charles), Bill K. Groce, all of Knoxville, TN; Joe S. Groce, Woodbury, Tn., Vicki Smith Upchurch, Crossville; Ann Groce Massey (Al), Amy Smith Barnes (Chris) all of Alanta, GA. and John R. Groce (Ann), Lafayette, GA; 14 grand nieces & nephews; Pat Sells, Brad Sells, Tom Blanchard, Elizabeth Groce Johnson, Emily Groce Pierce, Jacob Groce, Christopher Groce, Katie Taylor, Emily Upchurch, Cole Massey, Luke Upchurch, Savannah Barnes, Christopher Barnes and Billy Groce; 11 great-grand nieces & nephews; Hailee Sells, Jade Sells, Vada Sells, Emma Sells, Trey Sells, LeeEllen Beaty, Broderick Pierce, Jonah Johnson, Christian Pierce, Koen Sells and Brayden Groce. Also survived by cousins, other family members and friends.
The family chose cremation with a memorial service held on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Rick Cross officiating and burial at Smith Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers included Brad Sells, Tom Blanchard, Jacob Groce, Christopher Groce, Cole Massey, Luke Upchurch, Pat Sells and Billy Groce. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.

Sallie ean Burchett Copeland
June 3, 1932 - May 17, 2011

BYRDSTOWN--Sallie Dean Burchett Copeland, 78, Cordell Hull Memorial Dr., Byrdstown, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Clinton Co. Care and Rehab in Albany, KY.
She was born June 3, 1932 in Clinton Co., KY to the late Luther Ezra and Edna Grider Burchett. Mrs. Copeland lived most of her life in Pickett Co. and was a retired shirt factory employee, a homemaker, attended the Wolf River United Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church in Byrdstown. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Turney Copeland; son, Peter Turney Chuck Copeland: sister, Eva Conner; brother, Pete Burchett. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Tompkins & husband Ronnie, Monroe; and Deanie Craig & husband Ricky, Albany, KY; two sons, Joe Copeland & wife Donna, Chattanooga, TN and Jerry Copeland, Byrdstown; daughter-in-law, Joann Copeland, Evensville, TN; two sisters, Jimmie Maupin, Albany, KY., Alice Dickerson, New Castle, IN; step-sister, Laura Alice Sidwell & husband Dallas, Albany, KY; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. During the decline in her health Mrs. Copeland had special caregivers that the family wishes to acknowledge, they are Denia Anderson, Tammy Kennedy, Elaine Cross, Ruth Lee, Helen Copeland, Janie Parrish and Debra Alfaro.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 20, 2011 with Bro. Ivan Raley and Bro. Rick Cross officiating and burial at Amonett Cemetery. Pallbearers included; Joseph Tompkins, Josh Tompkins, Peter Turney Tripp Copeland III, James Sells, Jeremiah Copeland, Eric Walden, Larry Conner, Tony Conner and honorary pallbearers were granddaughters. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.

Willie D. Stockton
February 25, 1942 - May 14, 2011

ALBANY, KY--Mr. Willie D. Stockton, 69, of Albany, Ky., passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Clinton Co., Ky., on Feb. 25, 1942, the son of Lonnie E. and Mary L. Blankenship Stockton. He was a past master of Beach Bottom Masonic Lodge # 788, he was a graduate of Clinton County High School, he worked for the Ace Hardware in Clinton, Cumberland and Pickett Counties, he was the manager of the Old Do-It Center in Burkesville, Ky., and he was a member of Concord United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Lee Edwards and grandchildren, Micheala, Parker and Mallory Allen. He is survived by his wife, Janet D. Eudey Stockton, whom he married on April 12, 1963, his children, Angela (and Tom) Allen of Byrdstown; Stacy (and Kenny) Dearborn, of Independence, Ky., Tiffany (and Brian) Clevenger of Somerset, Ky., his sister, Mossie (and Earl) Hyatt of Glasgow, Ky., his grandchildren, Mackenzie Allen, Eric Dearborn, Evan Dearborn, Eli Dearborn, Ethan and Abigail Clevenger. Funeral services were held on May 17, 2011 with Bro. Rodney Koger and Sister Kim Koger officiating. Special music was by Libby Mullinix. Pallbearers were Jimmy Edwards, Bryson Hyatt, Jamie Hyatt, Danny Akers, Wayne Stockton and Curt Thrasher. Burial was in the Peolia Cemetery in Clinton Co., Ky. Charles Edward Springmyer
February 3, 1944 - May 14, 2011

CINCINNATI, OH--Charles Edward Springmyer, Jr., 67, of Cincinnati, OH passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston.
He was born Feb. 3, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Charles Edward and Laura Ruebel Springmyer, Sr., He was a past employee of Hamilton Co. Clerk of Courts Office, owner of Springmyer Communications, a Shriner/Masonic member and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Corp. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include wife, Susan Briggs Springmyer; two daughters, Heather Staley & husband Adam and Suzanne Springmyer; son, Charles Edward Springmyer III & wife Julie; sister, Karen Johnson; five grandchildren, Carson, Madison and Jackson Springmyer, Lauren and Rachel Staley.
The family chose cremation with memorial services held Sunday, May 22, 2011 from the St. Peter and St. Paul Church of Christ in Cincinnati, OH.
