Roxie D. Manis
October 1, 1920 - October 25, 2011

EW CASTLE, IN--Roxie D. Manis, 91, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Henry County Hospital. She was born October 1, 1920 in Byrdstown, to the late Tom and Ada (Crokett) Manis.
“Dee”, as she was known, was employed at the New Castle State Hospital for over 30 years. She loved most of all spending time with her nieces, nephews and family. Dee also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening and will be greatly missed by her family and her beloved dog, Rusty.
Survivors include her niece, Marilyn (husband, Keith) Manis Bouslog of Casey, IL; several grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Print Manis, Orlan Manis; three sisters, Violet Pierce, Pansy Pierce and Fonza Manis; two step brothers, Millard and Tasso Manis.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Keith Bouslog officiating. Burial followed in South Mound Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com.

Carolyn Sue Miller Lee
March 16, 1946 - October 24, 2011

BYRDSTOWN--Carolyn Sue Miller Lee, 65 of 6425 Greenbrier Rd., Byrdstown passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1946 in Delphis, OH to the late John and Margret Stant Miller. Mrs. Lee lived most of her life in Pickett County, she was a garment factory employee and of the Full Gospel faith.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers Earl and Edgar Miller. Survivors include husband, John E. Lee of Byrdstown; three daughters, Johnnie Sue Pittman & husband Robert of Byrdstown, Ginger "Dee Dee" Brown & husband Lonnie of Albany, Ky., Tammy Kennedy & husband Thomas of Byrdstown; sister Judy K. Hinds of Van Wert, OH; six grandchildren, John Covey, Kendra Brown, Myles Pittman, Samuel Brown, Daniel Brown and Addison Pittman. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dale Cox officiating and grandson Myles Pittman speaking with burial at Locust Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Kennedy, Lonnie Brown, Robert Pittman, Myles Pittman, Samuel Brown and Daniel Brown. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.

Francis E. Baker
March 2, 1923 - October 23, 2011

BYRDSTOWN--Francis E. Baker, 88, 835 Baker Ln., Byrdstown passed away Sunday Oct. 23, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was born March 2, 1923 in Rutland, VT to the late Quincy M. and Hazel Preedom Baker. Mr. Baker was a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the Army Air Force, member of the DAV, American Legion, Pickett County Health Council, AARP Tax Aid and Aging Services for the Upper Cumberland. He was also a retired Senior Volunteer Program Director and lived the past 55 years in Pickett County.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by daughter, Mary Lynne Baker; sister, Edna Lyman; brother, Edward Baker.
Survivors include wife, Jessie Wells Baker of Byrdstown; three daughters, Lana Rossi and husband Ed of Byrdstown, Norma Baker of Oakland, CA., Rebecca Baker, Cookeville; two sons, Francis C. Baker of Monterey; and Robert Dana Baker & wife Susan of Hendersonville, TN; brother, Quincy Baker, Rutland, VT; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Louis Davis officiating and burial at Lovelady-Sims Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Dana Baker, Francis C. Baker, Philip Kay, Rex Zimmerman, Robert Wells, Jerry McGregor, Tom Gallaher, Guy Zimmerman and David Wells.

Johnny Preston Harlan
March 21, 1934 - October 22, 2011


BYRDSTOWN--Johnny "John" Preston Harlan, 77 of 5255 Turney Groce Rd., Byrdstown passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was born March 21, 1934 in Albany, Ky. to the late Floyd and Ermon Cross Harlan. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army, a dairy processor and lived the past several years in Pickett County.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by wife, Nancy Harlan and daughter, Marilyn Harlan. Survivors include daughter Larae Lander & husband Bradd of Kingman, AZ; two sisters, Josie Lowhorn & husband James and Jean Bickel & husband Rudy all of Albany, KY; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bobby Sexton officiating and burial at Peolia Cemetery in Albany. Pallbearers were Steve Lowhorn, Billy Garrett, Gail Cross, Roger Amonett, Tyler Parkhurst and Homer Lowhorn. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.
