BYRDSTOWN--Bobby Howard Pryor, 72, 1021 Pryor Road, Byrdstown passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was born April 25, 1939 in Pickett Co. to the late Webster and Beulah Dowdy Pryor. Mr. Pryor was a garment factory worker and lived all of his life in Pickett County. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by five brothers; Gene, Paul, Hollis, Frank "Butch" and Jackie Pryor.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ann Stockton Pryor, Byrdstown; five sons, Danny Pryor and wife Luz of Cookeville, Bobby Gale Pryor, Chris Pryor and wife Natasha, Pat Pryor and wife Jolinda and Randy Pryor all of Byrdstown; three sisters, Linda Booher, Ann Brubaker and Gaylon Nicholas, all of Byrdstown; three brothers, Watson and Wayne Pryor of Byrdstown and Gary Pryor of Albany; seven grandchildren, Shawnda, Eli, Maria, Victoria, Daniella, Brody and Nora Pryor. Also survived by several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services wer held Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ivan Raley officiating and burial at Story Cemetery. Pallbearers included David Stockton, Blake Upchurch, Tim Pryor, Troy Pryor, Hunter Pryor and Jared Pryor. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.
January 19, 1930 - November 25, 2011
BYRDSTOWN--Porter Frank Elder, 81, Byrdstown passed away Nov. 25, 2011 at his home in the Lovelady Community.
He was born Jan. 19, 1930 to the late Porter S. and Claudia Dulaney Elder. Mr. Elder was a lifetime resident of Pickett County, where he taught school for 33 years. His teaching career included serving as Assistant Principal of Pickett County High, Faculty Advisor of the yearbook and school paper staff. He also served as the faculty chaperone to more than twenty senior class trips to Washington D.C. Mr Elder also served as a city Alderman for the city of Byrdstown, on the Selective Service Board and worked with the Corp of Engineers. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the First Baptist Church of Byrdstown. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by brother, Howard Elder and sister, Marle Elder Whitlow.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Bobbie Ruth Groce Elder; son, Dr. Robert Elder and wife Nancy of Knoxville; daughter Ineta Cobb and husband Scott of Murfreesboro; three granddaughters, Suzanne and Caroline Elder of Knoxville, Elissa Cobb Garret and husband Jason of Murfreesboro; one great-grandson Carter Garrett; two sisters Loyce Sells of Cookeville and Nina Asberry of Allardt. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at First Baptist Church. Pallbearers included nephews, Tony Sells, Dan Whitlow, Bryan Asberry, Rob Russell, Derrick McWhorter and Daniel McWhorter. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Lovelady Cemetery Fund, Pickett County School Libraries, Pickett County Library, American Heart Assoc., American Lung Assoc. and National Kidney Foundation.
August 16, 1960 - November 23, 2011
PALL MALL--David John Williams, 51, 99 Crockett Lane, Pall Mall passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at Clinton County Hospital.
He was born August 16, 1960 in Toledo, OH. to the late John Lewis and Jacqueline Ann Beauch Williams. Mr. Williams was draftsman, computer software designer and lived the past 12 years in Pickett County.
Survivors include girlfriend, Cathy Crockett of Pall Mall; sister, Anna Williams Wesling and husband Peter of Greeley, CO. and nephew Jackson Starr. Also survived by other family and friends.
Memorial services were held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chris Thompson officiating. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.
Robert Lee Sells

BYRDSTOWN--Robert Lee Sells, 70, Pickett Care and Rehab, Byrdstown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was born May 22, 1941 in Albany, KY. to the late James Roberts and Gertie Lee Carr Sells. Mr. Sells was a farmer and lived most of his life in Pickett County.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by sister, Delaine Taylor and brother, Joe Sells. Survivors include wife, Janice Logan Sells of Byrdstown; daughter, Susie Sells Thacker and husband Floyd of Burkesville, KY; son, James Sells and wife Emily of Byrdstown; three sisters, Phyllis Smith, Marion, IN., Joyce Bookout and Virgina Groce both of Albany, KY; brother, Freddie Sells of Albany; two grandchildren, Keaton and Bronwin Sells. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Louis Davis officiating and burial Smyrna Cemetery. Pallbearers included James Sells, Adam Parrott, Floyd Thacker, Daniel Shaver, Samuel Shaver and David Bookout. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.
Vonnie Faye Hinds Cross

BYRDSTOWN--Vonnie Faye Hinds Cross, 62 of 2106 Harrison Rd., Byrdstown passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 23, 1949 in Crossville, to the late Clyde and Edith Byrd Hinds. Mrs. Cross was a retired factory employee, homemaker, member of the Bloomington Christian Church and also attended First Christian Church in Byrdstown.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Cross; three brothers, Roy, Dannie Ray and John Hinds. Survivors include daughter, Brenda Winningham of Byrdstown; son, Jason Cross and wife Shannon of Jamestown; brother, James Dallas Hinds, Crossville; two grandchildren Nathan Douglas and Katie Beth Winningham. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Wed., Nov. 16, 2011 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jonathan Sells and Bro. John Stone officiating and burial at Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers included, Millard Abbott, John Zachary, Don Winningham, Dale Wallace, Alex Esper, Bob Esper and Honorary Pallbearer Jonathan Abbott. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Home.
