James D. Cope
June 25, 1924 - January 26, 2013

BYRDSTOWN--James D. Cope, 88, Honeysuckle Lane, Byrdstown passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Pickett Care and Rehab.
He was born June 25, 1924 in Clinton Co., KY to the late James Alexander and Donna Maude Dennis Cope and lived most of his life in Pickett County. He was a past Pickett County Trustee, manager of Wrangler Boot Division, a member of the First Baptist Church in Byrdstown and a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the Army.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, John L. and Willie Dee Cope; sister Gladys Cope; two sistesr-in-law, Edith and Grace Cope.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Story Cope, Byrdstown; three daughters, Brenda Cross and husband Rick, Byrdstown; Patti Davis of Monterey and Paula Amonett and husband Jeff, Byrdstown; two sons, Larry Cope and wife Regina, Cookeville and Eddie Cope and wife Thelma, Byrdstown; four brothers, Howard Cope, Livingston; Eugene Cope and wife Louise, Byrdstown; Wonza Cope and wife Sue and Curtis Leon Cope and wife Jan all of Akron, OH: two sister-in-laws, Edna and Gleah Cope both of Akron, OH; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeff Amonett, Bro. Rick Cross and Bro. Ivan Raley officiating and burial at Beaty Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Scott Cope, Andy Cope, Justin Davis, Brandon Masiongale, Derek Robbins, Danny Patton and P.T. Gadberry. Honorary pallbearers included K.T. and Kyle Perry, Colton and Cooper Sells, Jaren Davis, Austin and Jacob Cope, Levi Masiongale and Connor Robbins. Military Honors were provided at the graveside by the Hull-York Ch.5 DAV. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.
