Roosevelt R. Nicholas
November 25, 1939 - February 27, 2013

MCMINNVILLE, TN--Roosevelt R. Nicholas, 73, McMinnville, TN passed away from this life on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at River Park Hospital of an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 25, 1939 in Byrdstown to the late Joe H. and Bercelia Poore Nicholas. Mr. Nicholas was a nursery worker and a member of the Baptist Church.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Roberts Nicholas; grandson, Ricky Glenn Nunley, Jr.; three sisters, Edith Smith, Sarah Cooper and Delina Gaither; and three brothers, Virgil, Paul and Holden Nicholas.
Survivors include two daughters, Melinda Shockley and husband Ed, Melody Hillis and husband Stan; three sons, Dewayne Nicholas, Joe Nicholas and wife Donna and David Nicholas and wife Tera; sister Christene Medley, all from McMinnville, TN; three brothers, Noble Nicholas and wife Edith of Livingston, Arlen Nicholas and wife Bessie and Amos Nicholas and wife Isabella, all of Byrdstown; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services at Crain Hill Cemetery were held Saturday, March 2, 2013 with Bro. Anthony Campbell officiating.

Barbara Faye Garrett Walker
September 6, 1943 - February 24, 2013

BYRDSTOWN--Barbara Faye Garrett Walker, 69, Oak St., Byrdstown passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 6, 1943 in Pickett County to the late Harve and Nannie Pennycuff Garrett. Mrs. Walker lived most of her life in Pickett County. She was a past greenhouse employee, housewife and member of the Smyrna Church. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by daughter Melissa Faye Walker; three brothers, Paul, Crobia and Junior Garrett; half sister, Lorraine Easterly.
Survivors include her husband Curtis Walker of Byrdstown; two daughters, Charlotte Braswell (David) of Albany and Shanda Haggard (Jeff) of Eubank, KY; two sons, Tony Walker (Kim) and Timmy Walker (Heather) all of Bedford, KY; step-son, Earl Walker of Pendleton, KY; two step-daughters Betty Guffey (Rex) and Wanda Mercer (Jesse) all of Albany, KY; brother J.T. Garrett, Byrdstown; sister, Mary Walker of Byrdstown; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 from Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Randy Tompkins and Bro. Johnny Davis officiating and burial Story Cemetery. Pallbearers include Timmy Walker, Tony Walker, Earl Walker, Jeff Haggard, Anthony Reynolds and Frankie Collins. Special care provided by Brown Funeral Chapel.
