Rev. Thomas “Ken” Riley
March 20, 1918 - October 8, 2008

NEW CASTLE, IN--Reverend Thomas “Ken” Riley, age 90, a New Castle resident since 1950, went to be with the Lord October 8, 2008 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born March 20, 1918 in Pickett County, to the late Joe and Ellen (Garrett) Riley.
In past years he was Interim at Smyrna Baptist Church, was pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Lawrence, Indiana and also Charity Baptist in Westwood. He had worked in the ministry until he was physically unable. He retired from Ford in Connersville in 1981 after 29 years of service. He served in the United States Army in 1940. He enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and friends and always put others needs before his own.
Survivors include two grandsons: Charles (wife: Barbara) Riley, Jr. and Kelly (wife: Angela) Riley; three great grandchildren: Heather Riley, Nikki Riley and Haley Riley; a daughter-in-law: Carol (Riley) Manning of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Christine Riley; his son: Charles Riley; two brothers: plus three in infancy.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Larry Delon officiating. Burial followed in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com.

Solomon Alex Beaty
March 19, 1920 - October 7, 2008

BYRDSTOWN--Solomon Alex Beaty, 88, Pickett Care & Rehab, Byrdstown, passed away Oct. 7, 2008 at Pickett Care & Rehab.
He was born March 19, 1920 in Pickett County, the son of the late Pinkney Beaty and Rose Ettie (Jones) Beaty. He was a school bus driver and a farmer. He lived all of his life in Pickett County and was a member of the Byrdstown Masonic Lodge #496 and a former Pickett County School Board member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathleen Beaty; daughter, Glossie Walker; son, Stanley Beaty; six brothers and two sisters.
Surviving relatives include daughter, Glenda Ledbetter, Livingston; sons, Bethel Beaty and wife, Betty G., Byrdstown; Haskel Beaty and wife, Betty S., Byrdstown; daughter-in-law, Betty Sue Beaty, Pall Mall; 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. from Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Roger McDonald officiating. Burial was at Williams Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Troy, Jeff, Marty, Kelvin and Ricky Beaty and Ed Beason. Special care was provided by Brown Funeral Chapel, Byrdstown.

Cindy Irene (Bond) Gibson
August 11, 1932 - September 17, 2008

N. HOLLYWOOD, CA--Cindy Irene (Bond) Gibson, 76, 8039 Fulton Ave., North Hollywood, Ca., and formerly of Pickett County, passed away Sept. 17, 2008 in Panorama City, Ca. She was a homemaker and worked in the Los Angeles City School System.
She was born Aug. 11, 1932 in Byrdstown, the daughter of Hillary and Atha (Moles) Bond. She lived most of her life in California.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hillary Bond; two brothers, Clinton Wayne Bond and Quincy Bond.
Surviving relatives include two daughters Marilyn Gibson-Hanson, North Hollywood, Ca.; and Kathy Gibson-Benton, Bayfield, Co.; son, David Gibson, Northridge, Ca.; mother, Atha Bond, Byrdstown; brother, Junior Bond, Byrdstown; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial service was held Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. from Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ricky Cross officciating. Burial was at Clark Cemetery. Special care was provided by Brown Funeral Chapel, Byrdstown.
