ALGOOD--Maudie Ellen
(Koger) Poore, 92, 176 Cooper
Rd., Algood, Tn. and formerly
of Pickett County, passed
away June 3, 2009 at her residence.
She was a retired employee
with Marhoeffer
Packing Company.
She was
born Jan. 2,
1917 in Pickett
County,
the daughter
of Mack Koger
and Minta
M i s s o u r i
(Buck) Koger.
She was of the Methodist
faith.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, her first husband,
Earl M. Poore; second
husband, Jason Paul Meek;
son, Cecil Eugene Poore; four
brothers, Ira, Porter, Lonzie
and Mackie Koger; and sister,
Delta Koger Barnett.
Surviving relatives include
two daughters: Irene Poore
and Elise Poore West, both of
Algood; sister, Pansy Koger
Sells, Elizabethtown, Ky.; four
grandchildren, Mark Moore
(Heidi), Mike Poore (Lisa),
Cathy Poore Clark (David),
Robbie Parsons (Cindy); nine
great grandchildren, Steve,
Cheyenne, Will and Jacob
Poore, Madeline and Lydia
Clark, Hannah, Hadleigh and
Holden Parsons, other family
members and friends.
Funeral services were held
June 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. from
Brown Funeral Chapel with
Bro. Barry Boggs officiating.
Burial was at Williams
Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Delmer, Mark, Mike and
Steven Poore, David Clark
and Rob Parsons.
Brown Funeral Chapel of

the arrangements.

BYRDSTOWN--Leslie Benton
“L.B.” Mitchell, 90, 638 N.
Main Street, Byrdstown,
passed away June 1, 2009 at
the Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was a retired farmer,
livestock dealer, real estate
broker and
park service
employee.
He was
born April 22,
1919 in Pickett
County,
the son of
Benton M.
Mitchell and
Euma (Parris)
Mitchell. He lived all of his life
in Pickett County. He was a
veteran of WWII that served
in the Navy and a member of
Smyrna Church.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, his wife, Carrie
Lou Mitchell; five brothers,
Samuel, Lonza, Richard,
Thomas and Hack Mitchell;
two infant brothers, two sisters,
Mary Lou Winningham
and Esther Coe.
Surviving relatives include
daughter, Vikki Mitchell and
husband, Eric, Nashville; two
sons, Bud Mitchell and wife,
Brenda, Byrdstown; Robert
Mitchell and wife, Roberta,
Pall Mall; five grandchildren
Joey, Amanda, Dustin, Pleas
and Freelie; two great grandchildren
Seth and Sydney,
nieces, nephews, other family
members and friends.
Funeral services were held
June 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. from
Brown Funeral Chapel with
Bro. Randy Tompkins officiating.
Hull-York DAV served as
active pallbearers.
Military honors were provided
graveside by the Hull-
York DAV.
