Outdoor Channel Fishing University Meet and Greet held
On Monday, Feb. 24, Fishing University was present for a Meet-and-Greet at the Pickett County High School Ag Pavilion. This was a part of their presence during filming for an upcoming episode to be aired on The Outdoor Channel in March. Those present from Fishing University were Debra Talley, Professional Angler Charlie Ingram, Professional Angler Ray Brazier, Guest Pro Mike McClelland, and Guest Pro Jim Leary. The Dixie Café catered the event and provided a hearty bowl of chili or vegetable soup along with handmade sandwiches, a drink and pecan pie to those in attendance.
The cast and crew spent three days fishing on Dale Hollow Lake following their arrival on Monday, Feb. 24th. Fishing proved to be less than ideal, but they were able to gain the footage needed to produce the episode. The group stayed at Sunset Marina & Resort who provided the lodging and graciously allowed them to use their store for a portion of their filming.
Their visit was a cooperative effort on the part of Sunset Marina & Resort, the Pickett, Overton, and Clay County Chambers of Commerce, and the Upper Cumberland Tourism Association following contact with the Pickett County entities earlier in 2013 by Ms. Talley.
In addition as a part of their visit, on Tuesday, Feb. 25th, the cast and crew held an educational program for the students at the Overton County High School with emphasis on preparation for outdoor careers. That evening Clay County held a Meet-and-Greet for their community at their Chamber of Commerce building. The local communities were encouraged to come out to these free events. All that participated had a wonderful time. It was a great time to connect with the local communities.
Look for the segment to be aired on Tuesday, March 18th at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 22nd at 3:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 23rd at 7:00 a.m. on The Outdoor Channel. The episode will air again on Tuesday, June 17th at 11:30 a.m.; Saturday, June 21st at 3:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 22nd at 7:00 a.m. Be sure to mark your calendars and tune in!
