Ford takes office

Jeff Ford, the new Register of Deeds, took office on Monday, November 17th.
He is a 2001 Pickett County High School graduate and received an Agricultural degree from Tennessee Technological University in 2005.
Ford stated to the PRESS that his former job as a land surveyor will help with the duties as Register.
“I am honored that the people of Pickett County are allowing me to serve as Register of Deeds,” stated Ford.
Letha McCurdy will continue her position as deputy Register.
The Pickett County Register of Deeds office now has land records access on the internet.
This process will make it faster and more convenient for the public to record and research documents. This new system will also have the records backed up in three other locations. The older records will be scanned into the new system.
