Notice to candidates regarding election campaign signsDuring an election year, the roadways become evident of candidate advertising. There are a few things candidates need to remember in regards to campaign advertising along highway right-of-ways.
It is unlawful for any person to place or attach advertising material to any type of utility pole or fixture whether privately or publically owned unless legally authorized to do so according to T.C.A. 2-19-144.
After the conclusion of a primary, general or special election, the candidate shall be responsible for the removal of the signs in a timely manor not to exceed three weeks however no punitive measures will be taken if they are not removed.
