Commissioners approve “Keep Pickett County Beautiful Day is May 3rd”

The Pickett County commissioners met in regular session on April 21, 2014. Present and presiding was the honorable Lana Rossi, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. Court was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Clerk Lee who turned the meeting over to Chairman Rossi. The invocation was given by Johnie Neal. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all. All commissioners were present, except Kenny Tompkins was absent. The following was action taken at the meeting:
•Approved a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve the agenda as amended. All ayes. Motion Carried.
•Carried a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve minutes from March 17, 2014 county court meeting. All ayes, except Eddie Holt passed. Motion Carried.
•Passed a motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Lowell Winningham to approve March 2014 Monthly Reports for the County General, Debt Service and Solid Waste Funds for FY2013/2014. All ayes. Motion Carried.
•Approved a motion by Lowell Winningham and seconded by Darrell Garrett to New Notary: Kayla Campbell and Notary Renewal: Barbara Reeder. All ayes. Motion Carried.
•Carried a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Tony Beaty to release Jennifer Anderson, Pickett County Trustee of the taxes as presented in report. All ayes. Motion Carried.
•Passed a motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve the County General Budget Amendment #4 for FY2013/2014 as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes, except for Joe Harden who passed. Motion Carried.
•Approved a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve Free Dump Day at the Pickett County Landfill in conjunction with the Great American Clean-up and Keep Pickett County Beautiful for May 3, 2014 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. This is for individual households only. All ayes. Motion Carried.
•Carried a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Tony Beaty to approve Budget Amendment #1 for General Purpose School Budget for FY2013/2014 as presented by Diane Elder, Director of Schools. All ayes. Motion Carried.
•Passed a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Colan Huddleston to approve Budget Amendment #2 for Pickett County Highway Department as presented by Jimmy Cope, Road Superintendent. All ayes. Motion Carried.
•Approved a motion by Lowell Winningham and seconded by Eddie Holt to accept James Yates mowing bid in the amount of $350.00 per cut for FY14/15. This being the lowest or best bid, providing proof of insurance. Also requiring proof that Pickett County Government is listed on policy as additional insured. All ayes. Motion Carried.

A) Doris Estes for Chairman of Budget Committee
•Carried a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to adjourn until the next regular county court meeting scheduled for May 19, 2014 at 6 p.m. in the community room of the Pickett County Library without roll call.
