Commission votes to buy new ambulance

Pickett County Commissioners met in regular session on December 15th. Present and presiding was the honorable Stephen Bilbrey, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. Court was called to order at 6 p.m. by Clerk Lee who turned the meeting over to Chairman Bilbrey. The invocation was given by Danny Dennis. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all. The following commissioners were present: David Beaty, Wayne Clayborn, Danny Dennis, Misty Dowdy, Deborah Garrett, William Gibson, Eddie Holt, Colan Huddleston, Penny Russell, Alice Storie and Kenny Tompkins. Evan Wright was absent. The following proceedings were had and entered on the court minutes as wit.
*Motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Penny Russell to approve the agenda as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Motion by Kenny Tompkins and seconded by Misty Dowdy to approve the minutes of the November 17th county court meeting. All ayes. Motion passed.
*Motion by Danny Dennis and seconded by Deborah Garrett to approve the purchase of security equipment in the amount of $7,381.05 for the Pickett County Jail using account number 34330 Reserve for Capital Outlay from the Jail Fund. All ayes. Motion approved.
*Motion by William Gibson and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve Resolution Number 08/09-06. This is a resolution of the governing body of Pickett County, Tennessee authorizing the issuance, sale, and payment of a 2009 Dodge Ambulance Capital Outlay Note not to exceed $91,825. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Alice Storie to approve Resolution Number 08/09-07. This is a resolution to discuss setting up a regional jail authority by Clay, Overton, Fentress and Pickett Counties. All ayes, except Eddie Holt who voted nay. Motion passed.
*Motion by William Gibson and seconded by Colan Huddleston to approve refunding Mr. Michael O'Hara $823.54 for overpayment of 2006, 2007 and 2008 property taxes as submitted by Mrs. Jennifer Anderson, Trustee. All ayes. Motion approved.
*Motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by William Gibson to change a county road name from Smokey's Lane to Obey River Shores as submitted by Mr. Jimmy Cope, Road Superintendent with land owner paying all expenses associated with the road name change. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Penny Russell to delete Smokey's Lane as a county road as submitted by Mr. Jimmy Cope, Road Superintendent. All ayes. Motion approved.
*Motion by William Gibson and seconded by Alice Storie to pay E-911 commission committee members mileage for meetings. All ayes except Misty Dowdy who passed. Motion carried.
*Motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Colan Huddleston to adjourn until the next scheduled meeting on January 19 at 6 p.m. in the community room of the Pickett County Library without roll call. Court adjourned until January 19th, 2009.
