Masked man carrying butcher knife attempts break in at Byrdstown residence

On Monday, March 23rd at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Pickett County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call regarding an attempted breaking and entering by knifepoint.
Deputy James Hammock was dispatched to a residence on Cordell Hull Memorial Drive.
According to the sheriff's report, the home owners stated that they heard someone outside and thought it was a family friend. Once the door was opened, it was noticed that the person had on a mask and was carrying a butcher knife in one hand. The door was quickly shut and the homeowners called 911. The suspect was described as a tall male, slender build with what appeared to be light colored hair and was wearing blue jeans, dark blue cotton jacket and dark cap.
