Byrdstown/Pickett County Chamber needing community support

The Byrdstown/Pickett County Chamber Board of Directors
have had to permanently lay off the chamber’s director
Desiree Peterson.
The layoff is because the chamber’s memberships have decreased
due to multiple company closings and harder economic
times. “The money isn’t there to pay for a director
position right now. We are hopeful that things will turn
around, then the board will be able to hire a new director. In
the meantime, we are working hard to maintain the integrity
of the chamber,” stated Lana Rossi, President of the Board of
Directors.
Currently the chamber is still functioning with the help of
dedicated volunteers. The volunteers help with answering
phones, mailing out requested visitors packets and help with
those who wish to relocate here. It is also crucial that Economic
Development packets are distributed to promote possible
new industry to Pickett County.
The chamber is responsible for promoting our county in
tourism and also to help local citizens in leadership services.
If you would like to help volunteer or need any information
how to join the chamber please call 864-7195 or 864-8585.
