Pickett County Fallen Firefighter honored at Tennesee Fallen Firefighter Memorial

The Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial
was held in Bell Buckle on September
11th paying tribute to Tennessee
firefighters who died in line of duty.
Among those 194 firefighters who died
in line of duty since 1875, Pickett County
fallen firefighter David Bond was honored.
In June 1980, 18-year-old David
Bond was working as a Volunteer Junior
Fire Department member when he responded
to fire call at the Chanute Community
Center. While enroute to the fire,
the county fire truck Bond was driving
overturned and ejected him where he
died instantly from his injuries.
Tragically, the call he was responding
to turned out to be a prank call and the
prank caller has never been identified.
