Commission votes to auction old doctor's office property, city park

The Pickett County Commissioners met in regular session May 19th. Court was called to order at 7 p.m. by Chairman Stephen Bilbrey. The invocation was given by Danny Dennis. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all. All commissioners were present except Eddie Holt. The following is action taken at the meeting.
•Approved motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve agenda as amended. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Misty Dowdy and seconded by Penny Russell to approve the minutes of the April 21, 2008 county court meeting. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by William Gibson and seconded by Alice Storie to approve notary for Jeffery K. Elder. All ayes, motion carried.
•Approved a motion by William Gibson and seconded by Deborah Garrett to approve FY 2007/2008 budget amendment #13, County General Fund as submitted by the county executive. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Wayne Clayborn and seconded by William Gibson to approve FY 2007/2008 budget amendment #13 Solid Waste Fund, as submitted by the county executive. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Danny Dennis and seconded by Alice Storie to replace Chris Smith, whose term has expired, with Donna Anderson for a term of six years and appoint Lana Rossi for a term of six years to the Pickett County Industrial Development Board. All ayes, motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Penny Russell to put out on bids for prisoner meals. Bid specification can be picked up in the County Executive’s office Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri. 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wed. from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sealed bids must be turned in by June 16, 2009 by 2 p.m. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Kenny Tompkins and seconded by Deborah Garrett to put on on bids for gas for all county buildings. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to put out on bids the administration for FY 2008/2009 insurance. All ayes, motion carried.
•Approved a motion by William Gibson and seconded by Evan Wright to rename Hassler Access and Hassler Lane on the east side of the road heading south off of Hwy. 111 to be Frisco Lane and the road turning off of Frisco Lane to be named Cavanaugh Lane. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Penny Russell to have Hassler Lane run from Old 42 to Highway 111 on the west side of the road heading south on Hwy. 111 and to have Hassler Loop run south off of Hassler Lane and to leave Hassler Spur the same. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by William Gibson to approve Bluegill Lane and Shady Creek Lane as county roads as submitted by Jimmy Cope, Road Superintendent. All ayes, motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Danny Dennis and seconded by Evan Wright to approve resolution #07/08-13 authorizing the county executive to execute a contract between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation and Pickett County Government. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve resolution #07/08-14 authorizing the issuance of School Refunding Bonds Series 2008 in the aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $4,450,000.00. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Misty Dowdy and seconded by William Gibson to give the county executive the authorization to set a date to sign a contract to auction the old doctor’s office property and old city park property to be auctioned by Byrd Realty and Auction . All ayes, motion carried.
There was a discussion concerning the computer system for the Register of Deeds, the farmer’s market, and 911 with no action taken.
•Approved a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Wayne Clayborn to adjourn until the next scheduled county court meeting June 16 at 6 p.m. in the community room of Pickett County Library.
