Town of Byrdstown March 8th meeting

The Town of Byrdstown
Board of Mayor and Aldermen
met in regular session on
Monday, March 8, 2010 at
5:00 p.m. at Town Hall.
Those present were Mayor
Billy Robbins, Recorder
Johnny Sells, Alderwoman
Opal Clayborn, Alderman
Glenn Parris, Alderman Rex
Tompkins, Town Attorney
Phillips Smalling, Town Engineer
James Garrett,
Nathaniel Green, and Ernest
Copeland.
The Mayor called the meeting
to order and presented the
proposed agenda. A motion
was made by Rex Tompkins to
adopt the agenda as presented.
A second was voiced
by Johnny Sells and, with all
members voting aye, the motion
carried.
A motion was made by
Johnny Sells to approve the
minutes of the February 8,
2010 regular meeting as written.
A second was voiced by
Glenn Parris and, with all
members voting aye, the motion
carried.
Under old business, Ernest
Copeland addressed the
Board to see if there was any
lead way on getting water for
his development. The Mayor
reported that he had made
contact with the land owner
about an easement for water
lines to be installed and was
waiting on a reply.
The Mayor informed the
Board that we are moving forward
on the Clark Mountain
water tank site.
There was a discussion
about repairing the pump station
at the Hutchinson building.
Town Engineer James
Garrett is to get the specs
ready so the repairs can be
put out for bids.
Under new business, the
Mayor informed the Board
that one of the trucks used in
Distribution was in need of repairs,
and parts would cost
approximately $1500.00 plus
labor. After discussing the age
and high mileage of the truck,
a motion was made by Johnny Sells to purchase a newer model
truck from State Surplus Property with a ceiling price of
$4000.00. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and, with all
members voting aye, the motion carried.
There was a discussion of the BZA Board Members.
There was a discussion of the Flood Zone Area in the Town
of Byrdstown.
With no further business to discuss, a motion was made by
Glenn Parris to adjourn until the next regular meeting on April
12, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at Town Hall. A second was voiced by
Opal Clayborn and, with all members voting aye, the meeting
adjourned at 5:50 p.m
