Pickett Commissioners June 16 meeting

The Pickett County Commis-sioners met in regular session June 16. Presiding was Stephen Bilbrey, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. Court was called to order at 6 p.m. by Clerk Lee who turned the meeting over the Chairman Bilbrey. The invocation was given by Bilbrey and the pledge of allegiance to the flag was given by all. All commissioners were present with the exception of Evan Wright. The following proceedings were had and entered on the court minutes:
•Approved the agenda by Misty Dowdy and seconded by Wayne Clayborn to approve the agenda as presented. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve the minutes of the May 19 county court meeting. All ayes except Eddie Holt who passed, motion carried.
Prior to the next item, Evan Wright entered the meeting.
•Passed a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Alice Storie to approve a notary renewal for Dolores J. Storie. All ayes, motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Danny Dennis and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to renew Linda Crouch for a term of six years to the Pickett County ID Board. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Wayne Clayborn and seconded by Misty Dowdy to approve FY 2007/2008 Budget Amendment #14, County General Fund as submitted by the county executive. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by William Gibson and seconded by Evan Wright to approve FY 2007/2008 Budget Amendment #15 Drug Control Fund as submitted by the county executive. All ayes, motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Kenny Tompkins and seconded by William Gibson to approve FY 2007/2008 Budget Amendment #16 Solid Waste Fund as submitted by the county executive. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Alice Storie to approve FY 2007/2008 Budget Amendment #4 General Purpose School Fund as submitted by Mrs. Diane Elder, Director of Schools. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Penny Russell to approve FY 2007/2008 Budget Amendment Highway Department Fund as submitted by the road superintendent. All ayes, motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Danny Dennis to accept the bid from Dixie Cafe in the amount of $4.50 for five or more meals per serving and $5.00 per meal for less than five meals per serving and drink for three hot meals per day seven days a week for the prisoners in the Pickett County Jail for the 2008/2009 fiscal year. This being the lowest or best bid. All ayes, motion carried.
•Carried a motion by William Gibson and seconded by Deborah Garrett to accept the bid from Tri-County Propane Gas in the amount of $1.789 per gallon to provide propane gas for county buildings for the 2008/2009 fiscal year. This being the lowest or best bid. All ayes, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by David Beaty and seconded by Evan Wright to accept the bid from Keisling Insurance in the amount of $1.00 for the administration of the county’s insurance for the 2008/2009 fiscal year. This being the lowest or best bid. All ayes except Deborah Garrett, Eddie Holt, Penny Russell and Kenny Tompkins who passed. Motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve Resolution #07/08-15. This is a resolution authorizing the county executive of Pickett County to sign a proposal with the Tennes-see Department of Transporta-tion. This being the first of two readings. All ayes, motion carried.
•There was a discussion concerning the fair, high school football with no action being taken. There was also an update on the Orange Carpet Tour.
Prior to the next item Wayne Clayborn left the meeting.
•Carried a motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Danny Dennis for the county executive to send a letter to the Pickett County Industrial Board notifying them that the Pickett County Government has contacted the attorneys with CTAS to have them look at the legal aspects of the Hutchinson buildings contract. We also request that the Pickett County Indust-rial Board take no action until CTAS contacts Pickett County Government with a legal opinion. On roll call all present voted aye, motion carried.
•Passed a motion by William Gibson and seconded by Deborah Garrett to recess until June 30 at 6 p.m. in the community room of the Pickett County Library. All ayes, motion carried.
