Pickett Commissioners June 20th meeting

The Pickett County Commissioners met in regular session on June 20th, 2011. Present and presiding was the honorable Johnie Neal, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. All commissioners were present except Daniel Masiongale.
Motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve the agenda as amended. All ayes, motion carried.
Approved motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve the minutes of the May 16th, 2011 county court meeting. All ayes, motion carried.
Carried motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Doug Manis to approve Notary Renewal: Pauletta Stewart Maynard, all ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve County General Budget Amendment #17 for FY 2010/2011, as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes, motion carried.
Passed motion by Kenny Tompkins and seconded by Becky Matheny to approve Solid Waste Budget Amendment #1 for FY 2010/2011, as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Tony Beaty and seconded by Lowell Winningham to approve Highway Dept. Budget Amendment #2 for FY 2010/2011 as presented by Jimmy Cope, Highway Superintendent. All ayes, except Eddie Holt who passed, motion carried.
Passed motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve Debt Service Budget Amendment #1 for FY 2010/2011, as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes, motion carried.
Carried motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Tony Beaty to approve Resolution #10/11-12 to apply for Litter Grant for FY 2011/2012, as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Colan Huddleston to approve Resolution #10/11-13 to accept grant in the amount of $24,800 to purchase patrol cars/vehicles for Pickett County Sheriffs Department. All ayes, motion carried.
Approved motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to approve Resolution #10/11-14 to adopt a con-nuing budget and tax rate for FY beginning July 1, 2011. All ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Tony Beaty and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve Resolution #10/11-15, Three Year Capital Outlay Note in the amount of $72,200 to purchase Firetrucks. All ayes, motion carried.
Passed motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Doug Manis to award Farmhouse Restaurant in the amount of $3.39 per meal and drink for three hot meals per day, seven days a week for the prisoners in the Pickett County Jail for the 2011/2012 fiscal year. This being the lowest or best bid. All ayes, except Lowell Winningham who voted nay, motion carried.
Motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to award Tri-County Propane in the amount of $1.689 per gallon to provide propane to county buildings for the 2011/2012 fiscal year. This being the lowest or best bid. All ayes, motion carried.
Other business discussed was landfill roll off truck bids-$144,540.02. Motion by Tony Beaty and seconded by Joe Harden to park Pickett County Landfill roll off truck and stop all operations that involve the roll off truck until further notice. All ayes, motion carried.
Discussion getting a loan.
Discussion of County Road Right of way. Motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Joe Harden to delete a portion of Cedar Streets from the southern end going north 428.41 feet, from Pickett County Road. All ayes, motion carried.
Hotel-Motel tax will be discussed at the next meeting.
REMINDER: Budget committee meeting is Thursday, June 23, 2011 in the community room of the Pickett County Library at 6 p.m.
Motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to adjourn without roll call until June 27, 2011 at 6 p.m. in the community room of the Pickett County Library for a special called meeting to discuss the budget and Pickett County Landfill roll off truck.
