Pickett Board of Education Aug. 12 meeting

The Pickett County Board of Education met Tuesday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the office of the director of schools with the following members present: John Reagan, Chairman, Frank Capps, Terrell Garner and Jimmy Storie.
Motion by Jimmy Storie seconded by Terrell Garner to adopt the agenda and approve the minutes from the July 8, 2008 meeting. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by Frank Capps seconded by Jimmy Storie to approve changes in K-8 handbook. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by Frank Capps seconded by Terrell Garner to change cell phone board policy to match K-8 and high school policies. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by Frank Capps seconded by Jimmy Storie to set one time bonus pay at 10% for new math teacher as specified in differentiated pay scale. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by John Reagan seconded by Frank Capps to approve revising Board Policy #3.601 Student Insurance Policy-delete lines 1 through 6. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by Jimmy Storie seconded by Terrell Garner to approve revising Board Policy #4.501-School Volunteers-Add: Persons who volunteer on a regular basis must have a background check. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by Frank Capps seconded by John Reagan to approve Federal Projects Budgets and any necessary amendments or addendums for 2008-09. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by Jimmy Storie seconded by Terrell Garner to approve the Central Cafeteria Fund Budget for 2008-09. All ayes motion passed.
Motion by John Reagan seconded by Jimmy Storie to approve the General Purpose Fund Budget for 2008-09. All ayes. Motion passed.
Motion by John Reagan seconded by Terrell Garner to change the September meeting to Monday, Sept. 8, 2008. All ayes. Motion passed. Motion by Frank Capps seconded by Jimmy Storie to adjourn. All ayes. Motion passed.
