$200,000 Tax Anticipation note paid off last month

The Pickett County Commissioners met in regular session on Feb. 20, 2012. Present and presiding was the Honorable Johnie Neal, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. Court was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Clerk Lee who turned the meeting over to Chairman Neal. The invocation was given by Johnie Neal. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given by all. All commissioners were present. The following preceding were had and entered on the court minutes as wit:
•Approved a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve the agenda as amended. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Doug Manis to approve the minutes from the January 16, 2012 county court meeting. All ayes, except Eddie Holt who passed. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Terry Manis to approve Notary: Audrey M. Tompkins and Notary Renewal: Joyce Sells Groce. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve January 2012 monthly reports for County General Fund, General Purpose School Fund, Debt Service Fund and Solid Waste fund as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Tony Beaty to approve Resolution 11/12-6 to make the sale of synthetic drugs a felony and request support by surrounding counties. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Darrell Garrett and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve revenue accrued from phone cards that are sold to prisoners, to be added to the Jail Fund as presented by Dana Dowdy. Pickett County Sheriff. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Tony Beaty to approve Budget Amendment #2 for Pickett County Highway Dept. as presented by Mr. Jimmy Cope, Road Superintendent. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Motion by Lowell Winningham to approve county road name change from Cornerstone Lane to M and K Smith Lane as submitted by Mr. Jimmy Cope, Road Superintendent. Motion failed due to lack of second.
•Passed a motion by Doug Manis and seconded by Lana Rossi to approve County Road name change from Cornerstone Lane to M and K Smith Lane with any fees to be paid by the person or persons requesting the road name change. This request submitted by Pickett County Road Superintendent, Mr. Jimmy Cope. All ayes. Motion carried.
Other Business
A. Paid off $200,000 Tax Anticipation note on February 6, 2012.
B. Title search done on old Dr.'s Office Building as of February 1, 2012 there is a lien of $187,623.50 against the property. We will not be purchasing the property at this time. We may look at the property at a later date if they can get all liens removed.
•Passed a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to adjourn until the next scheduled county court meeting on March 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the community room of the Pickett County Library without roll call.
