The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) is investigating two drownings that occured Friday, May, 11th. The report states that a boater was at the Cove Creek boat ramp and noticed something in the water that appeared to be a person. Pickett County Deputies arrived on the scene at around 8:30 p.m. when a female body was retrieved from the water identified as 35 year old Janet Shattles of Crossville. After finding an empty boat floating in water, it was believed that a male subject was missing and feared to be drowned as well. The TWRA and the Pickett County Rescue Squad conducted body searches in the water using camera throughout the weekend. On Monday morning, May 14th, the body of William Napier, 29, of Deer Lodge, Tennessee was recovered.
TWRA Officer Nick Luper is the investigating officer, and received assistance from the Pickett County Sheriff's Department and the Pickett County Rescue Squad.
