Jumping accident causes drowning

Jumping accident causes drowningBy: Amanda Hill Bond, Publisher
A fun time on Dale Hollow Lake turned tragic on Saturday, June 30th. At approximately 1 p.m., authorities were called to an area on the lake known as Shear Pin Pass, located close to Millers Mill, for a possible drowning. The area is known for a cliff that is accessible by boat which many often gather and jump from.
According to a witness's statement, Ryan Seaton, 23, of Ohio, jumped off the cliff and completed a triple flip before going in the water. Seaton, who was not wearing a lifejacket at time of the incident, never resurfaced.
Pickett County Rescue Squad along with Clay County Rescue Squad, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and Kentucky Water Patrol searched to try to locate the victim's body, which was recovered on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in approximately 30 feet of water.
Seaton's body was transported to the Tennessee Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
The incident is still under investigation by the Pickett County Sheriff's Department and the TWRA.
