Budget passed, tax rate stays at $1.67

The Pickett County Commissioners met in a special called session at 6:00 p.m. on June 25, 2012. Present and presiding was the Honorable Doug Manis, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. All commissioners were present except for Lowell Winningham who was absent. The following preceding were had and entered on the court minutes as wit:
•Approved a motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve the agenda as presented. All ayes. Motion passed.
•Carried a motion by Daniel Masiongale and seconded by Lana Rossi to approve Resolution making appropriations for the various funds, departments, institutions, offices and agencies of Pickett County Tennessee for the year beginning July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013. All present voted aye except for Tony Beaty , Joe Harden and Terry Manis who voted nay and Darrell Garrett passed. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Colan Huddlston and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve the Resolution fixing the tax levy in Pickett County, Tennessee for the year beginning July 1, 2012 in the amount of $1.67 being the same as previous year. All present voted aye, except for Tony Beaty Joe Harden and Terry Manis voted nay and Darrell Garrett and Becky Matheny who passed. At this point the motion had failed. The two people who passed, Becky Matheny and Darrell Garrett were asked if they wanted to change their vote to aye and they did. This gave a vote of 8 ayes, 3 nays and 1 absent. Motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve the Resolution making appropriations to non-profit charitable organizations of Pickett County Tennessee for the FY beginning July 1, 2012. All present voted aye except for Tony Beaty, Joe Harden and Terry Manis who voted nay. Motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Lana Rossi and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve FY 2012/2013 County General Fund Budget, Drug Control fund Budget,Highway/Public Works Fund Budget, General Purpose School Fund Budget, Central Cafeteria Fund Budget, Debt Service Fund Budget and /Solid Waste Fund Budget as recommended by the Budget Committee. All present voted aye except for Tony Beaty, Joe Harden and Terry Manis who voted nay. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to adjourn until the next regularly scheduled County Court Meeting on July 16, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the community room of the Pickett County Library without roll call.
