Pickett Schools host TSBA Fall District Meeting
On Sept. 4, Pickett County K-8 was the host site for the annual Fall District TSBA meeting. Approximately 65 people, including board members and superintendents from surrounding counties attended the meeting.
Topics of discussion were teacher tenure laws, code of ethics, open meetings, fund balance, personnel authority, use of school facilities and contracts. Speakers were Dr. Tammy Grissom, TSBA Executive Director, Randall Bennett, TSBA Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel, Stephen Smith. Our special guest for the evening was Representative Les Winningham. Representative Winningham addressed the group on the responsibilities of superintendants and board members. All four board members including John Reagan, Jimmy Storie, Terrell Garner and Jerry Mitchell along with Director of Schools, Diane Elder were present for the meeting. A special thank you to all who helped make this night a huge success including Central Office Staff, Principals and assistants, teachers, cooks, and Students Council.
