10th Annual Sierra Hull Festival held

10th Annual Sierra Hull Festival heldBy: Byrdstown Mayor
Chris Thompson
What a great weekend at this year’s 10th Annual Sierra Hull Bluegrass Festival. It was great to meet so many new people as well as see all of the familiar faces that help with the festival every year. I just want to say "Thank You" to everyone who worked so hard in helping make this year’s festival a success. I could start mentioning names but it would take up too much space and I might leave someone out.
From the 5K to the Cruise-In, the music to the volunteers, the vendors to the attendees, everything worked out great! I was so surprised this year that so many people came from so many places to be a part of this year’s festival. Some of those places people came from were: Germany, Washington State, Idaho, Georgia, Ohio, Florida, Indiana, Texas, and many more! Most of them said that they liked the atmosphere of a smaller festival better. Many of them spoke of how nice everyone had been to them while they were here which speaks volumes about life in a rural community like Byrdstown/Pickett County.
So many people expressed that they really enjoyed the festival. That is what motivates me and everyone involved to do our level best when working on the festival. Work has already started for next year’s festival, and I hope that it just keeps getting better and better.
Our next event will be the Annual Christmas Parade which will be Saturday, Dec. 8th.
This year’s theme will be "A Patriotic Christmas". It will be in honor of all of our Military who have fought to preserve freedom here in the United States and all over the world.
