Pickett County players honored at Football Awards Banquet

The annual District 7A football awards banquet was held Sunday, Nov. 18th at Nick's Restaurant in Cooke-ville.
Pickett County had six players in attendance to receive all-district honors. Three players were recognized as honorable mention All-District award winners.
Dalton Gore who had 82 carries for 400 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 166 yards. Jeremy White had 25 receptions on the year for 370 yards and four touchdowns. Jeremy also had 25 tackles and a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown. Dakota Tompkins was recognized for his 18 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns and his 18 tackles and also his contribution on special teams returning kicks and punts.
Pickett County also had three all-district award winners at this years banquet. Maverick Melton was recognized for his dominant play at defensive tackle this year with 63 tackles and 22 of those for a loss. He was also recognized with a coach's award for his perseverance playing with type II diabetes. Maverick has his sugar checked several times during a ball game and usually has to get insulin shots during the game in order to keep his sugar down so he can continue playing.
Aaron Reagan was also honored for completing 97 passes this season for 1376 yards and 10 touchdowns, which are all Pickett County single season records. Aaron also rushed for a touchdown, had 18 tackles and two interceptions.
Robert Masiongale also received all-district honors as a receiver for the Bobcats. Robert caught 17 balls this year for 424 yards and five touchdowns. Robert also holds the record for most receiving yards in a single season. Other contributions Robert made was 17 tackles and a fumble return for a touchdown.
