County Commissioners voted to purchase building with intent to build jail

The Pickett County Commissioners met in regular session December 14, 2012. Present and presiding was the Honorable Lana Rossi, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. All commissioners were present, except Daniel Masiongale was absent. The following is action taken at that meeting:
•Approved a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to approve the agenda as mended. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve the minutes of the November 19, 2012 county court meeting. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve Monthly reports for November FY 12/13 for County General Fund, Debt Service Fund and Solid Waste Fund as presented by Mr. Johnie Neal, County executive. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Tony Beaty and seconded by Colan Huddleston to approve Drug Fund Budget Amendment #2 for FY 2012/2013 as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve County General Fund Budget Amendment #4 FY 2012/2013, as presented by Johnie Neal, County Executive. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Joe Harden and seconded by Lowell Winningham to approve nomination of Malcolm Johnson to 911 board. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Kenny Tompkins to approve Resolution #12/13-3, authorizing the County Executive to submit an application to The Institute of Museum and Library Services to request funds to enhance the Borderlands Museum. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Terry Manis and seconded by Darel Garrett to approve Donna Anderson's and Chad Elmore's resignation from the Industrial Development Board. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Tony Beaty and seconded by Doug Manis to approve Kathy Mitchell to Industrial Development Board to replace Donna Anderson's position on the Industrial Development Board. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Approved a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to approve David Harer to Industrial Development Board to replace Chad Elmore's position on the Industrial Development Board. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Carried a motion by Darrell Garrett and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve Resolution #12/13-4 to purchase building for the prospect of refurbishing the building for the Pickett County Jail. All ayes, except Tony Beaty voted nay. Motion carried.
•Passed a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded Colan Huddleston to approve County General Fund Budget Amendment #5 for FY 2012/2013, All ayes, except Tony Beaty voted nay. Motion carried.
•Other Business
A. Hazel Rauch to address the court concerning archives
Approved a motion by Becky Matheny and seconded by Tony Beaty to give Pickett County Archivist Hazel Rauch $500.00 for supplies for Pickett County Archives. All ayes. Motion carried.
B. Bob Bass to address the court concerning Justice Center.
C. Ambulance Service to address the court concerning continual water leaks ad sewer pump not working.
Carried a motion by Doug Manis and seconded by Tony Beaty to have Engineers to check out water and sewer problems at Pickett County Ambulance Service. All ayes. Motion carried.
D. Kevin Ray - Report on Community Center.
•Passed a motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Becky Matheny to adjourn until the next regular County Court Meeting on January 21, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the Pickett County Library without roll call.
