Special called meeting held, bids awarded

The Town of Byrdstown Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in a Special Called Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Town Hall. Those present were Mayor Chris Thompson, Recorder Johnny Sells, Alderwoman Opal Clayborn, Alderman Johnny Bilbrey, Nathaniel Green, with James C. Hailey & Company, Matt Whaley with Gilispie Construction and Scott Oakley with W&O Construction.
The purpose of the meeting was to open and award bids for water and wastewater equipment and installation projects.
The mayor called the meeting to order at this time Nathaniel Green Town Engineer opened the bids. There was only one bid received for the soft start at the raw water intake which included installation. The bid was from W&O Construction for $9,400.00.

There were two bids received to furnish and install one submersible sewer pump with ss guiderails, one set of float switches and, one control panel for the waste water plant. The first bid was from Gilispie Construction for $11,600.00. The second bid was from W&O Construction for $11,600.00.
After discussing the bids it was recommend by Town Engineer Nathaniel Green to go with W&O Construction for both bids. A motion was made by Johnny Sells to award both bids to W&O Construction in the amount of $9,400.00 for the soft start starter and $11,600.00 for the equipment for the waste water plant. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and with all members voting aye the motion carried
With this being the only topic of discussion, a motion was made by Opal Clayborn to adjourn. A second was voiced by Johnny Bilbrey and with all members voting aye the meeting adjourned at 9:08 a.m.
