Town of Byrdstown June 10th meeting

The Town of Byrdstown Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in regular session on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Those present were Mayor Chris Thompson, Recorder Johnny Sells, Alderwoman Opal Clayborn, Alderman Glenn Parris, Alderman Johnny Bilbrey, Town Attorney, Phillips Smalling, Town Engineer, James Garrett, Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Robbins, CPA David Melton, Rex Tompkins, Michelle Mitchell, Teressa Lee, JB Crawford, and Charles Parris.
The Mayor called the meeting to order and the proposed agenda was presented. A motion was made by Johnny Sells to adopt the agenda as presented. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
A motion was made by Johnny Sells to approve the minutes of the May 13, 2013 regular meeting as written. A second was voiced by Glenn Parris and, with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
Under Old Business, Town of Engineer James Garrett gave an update on the Clark Mountain Water Tank Project. There will be more discussion on this as information is gathered.
Town Attorney Phillips Smalling informed the board that two more on the delinquent tax list is to pay overdue taxes, and will look at what actions may need to be taken for any parcels that haven’t been taken care of.
In new business, a motion was made by Glenn Parris to do a budget amendment for the 2012-2013 budget for the water/sewer fund. A second was voiced by Johnny Sells and with all members voting aye the motion carried.
A motion was made by Opal Clayborn to do a budget amendment for the 2012-2013 budget for the General fund. A second was voiced by Johnny Sells and with all members voting aye the motion carried.
A motion was made by Johnny Sells to do a budget amendment for the 2012-2013 budget for the Fire Department fund. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and with all members voting aye the carried.
A motion was made by Johnny Sells to pass on the first reading for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 budget, ordinance #13-02 with the tax rate to stay the same at .4775. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and with all members voting.
With no further business to discuss a motion was made by Opal Clayborn to adjourn until June 27th, 2013 at 4:30 at Town Hall for a special called meeting. A second was voiced by Glenn Parris and with all members voting aye the meeting adjourned at 5:13 p.m.
