Commission votes for portion of Hwy. 111 speed limit to be lowered

The Pickett County Commissioners met in regular session on October 20. Present and presiding was the honorable Stephen Bilbrey, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. Court was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Clerk Lee.
*Approved a Motion by Deborah Garrett and seconded by Alice Storie to appoint Stephen Bilbrey as the Chairman of the Court for FY 2008/2009. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Passed a Motion by Danny Dennis and seconded by Colan Huddleston to appoint Deborah Garrett as Chairman Pro-Tem for FY 2008/2009. All ayes except for Deborah Garrett who passed. Motion carried.
*Carried a Motion by William Gibson and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve committees as submitted. All ayes. Motion carried.

*Passed a Motion by Misty Dowdy and seconded by Colan Huddleston to approve the minutes of the September 4, 2008 county court meetings. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Carried a Motion by Wayne Clayborn and seconded by Penny Russell to approve Notary for Tammy Martin. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Approved a Motion by William Gibson and seconded by Deborah Garrett to reappoint Howard Groce and Roy Koger to the Pickett County Library Board. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Passed a Motion by William Gibson and seconded by David Beaty approve the bid from H&E Construction in the amount of $41,555.00 for the paving of the Byrdstown Community Parking Lot. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Approved a Motion by William Gibson and seconded by Colan Huddleston to approve FY 2008/2009. 1st Quarter Reports for County General, Debt Service, and Solid Waste Funds. All ayes. Motion carried.
*Carried a Motion by Eddie Holt and seconded by Penny Russell high to re-bid for a new Ambulance requesting a bid for a Ford and/or a Dodge. Bid specifications may be picked up at the county Executives office Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri. from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Wed. from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sealed bids will be due no later than November 17, 2008 by 2:00 p.m. All ayes except Evan Wright who voted nay. Motion carried.
