County Commissioners set tax rate at $1.67

The Pickett County Commissioners met in special called session Sept. 30, 2013. Present and presiding was the Honorable Lana Rossi, Chairman and Robert Lee, Clerk of the Court. All commissioners were present. The following is action taken at that meeting:
•Approved a motion by Daniel Masiongale and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve the agenda as amended. All ayes. Motion carried.
•Motion by Daniel Masiongale and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve Resolution #13/14-5 fixing State Board of Equalization County Certified Tax Rate of $1.7283 for the Tax Levy in Pickett County, Tennessee for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2013. Eddie Holt, Daniel Masiongale, Kenny Tompkins and Lana Rossi voted aye, Doug Manis passed, all other commissioners voted nay. Motion failed.
•Motion by Colan Huddleston and seconded by Darrell Garrett to approve Resolution #13/14-7 fixing the Tax Levy in Pickett County Tennessee at $1.67 for Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2013, this being the same rate as last year. Darrell Garrett, Colan Huddleston and Lowell Winningham voted aye, Tony Beaty passed, all other commissioners voted nay. Motion failed.
•Motion by Daniel Masiongale and seconded by Eddie Holt to approve Resolution 13/14-5 fixing State Board of Equalization County Certified Tax Rate of $1.7823 for the Tax Levy in Pickett County, Tennessee for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2013. This rate generating the same revenue as last year. All voted aye except for Darrell Garrett, Joe Harden, Colan Hudor supervised,” said Vaughn. “It is easy to work with him and stay just as upbeat as he does because of his attitude.”
