Town of Byrdstown Oct. 14th meeting held
The Town of Byrdstown Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in regular session on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Those present were Mayor Chris Thompson, Recorder Johnny Sells, Alderwoman Opal Clayborn, Alderman Johnny Bilbrey, Town Engineer James Garrett, Nathaniel Green, Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Robbins, David Harer, Jenny Johnson and Robert Young.
The Mayor called the meeting to order and the proposed agenda was presented. A motion was made by Johnny Sells to adopt the agenda as presented. A second was voiced by Johnny Bilbrey and with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
A motion was made by Opal Clayborn to approve the minutes of the Sept. 9, 2013 meeting as written. A second was voiced by Johnny Sells and, with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
Under new business, Nathaniel Green with James C. Hailey and Company informed the board that under the current water project on change order number 4 contract number 112 there is a deduction of $2,378.08, which the Town will be reimbursed these funds.
The Mayor gave an update on the ARC Water Loss Grant. The Mayor also gave an update on the Community Facility Grant.
A motion was made by Johnny Sells to adopt the internal Financial Control Policy. This policy is a way to safeguard public funds and to provide clear instructions to Town officers and employees as to how such funds should be processed and recorded. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and with all members voting aye the motion carried.
Chamber of Commerce Director Billy Robbins gave an update on future events for the chamber, and also reported there are currently 103 members, and the chamber budget is on target.
Under other business the mayor reported that this year’s Sierra Hull Festival was another big success.
With no further business to discuss a motion was made by Johnny Bilbrey to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday October 14, 2013 at 4:30 at Town Hall. A second was voiced by Johnny Sells and with all members voting aye the meeting adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
