Town of Byrdstown accepts bid for pressure/jetter for Community Facility Grant

The Town of Byrdstown Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in regular session on Monday, November 13, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Those present were Mayor Chris Thompson, Recorder Johnny Sells, Alderwoman Opal Clayborn, Alderman Johnny Bilbrey, Alderman Glenn Parris, Town Engineer James Garrett, Nathaniel Green, Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Robbins, Jenny Johnson, Shane Huddleston, Malcolm Harmon, Gary Parris, Judy Garrett and Rex Tompkins.
The Mayor called the meeting to order and the proposed agenda was presented. A motion was made by Johnny Sells to adopt the agenda as presented. A second was voiced by Johnny Bilbrey and with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
A motion was made by Opal Clayborn to approve the minutes of the October 14, 2013 meeting as written. A second was voiced by Johnny Sells and, with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
Under old business, a motion was made by Johnny Sells to ratify the purchase of a storage building for the water plant from TNT Carport in the amount of $1990.50. A second was voiced by Johnny Bilbrey and with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
The Mayor presented two bids received for a trailer bid for the Community Facility Grant. The first bid was from Mastiff Trailers for $1975.00. The second bid was from McMinnville Trailer Sales for $2000.00. A motion was made by Johnny Bilbrey to accept the low bid from Mastiff Trailers for $1975.00. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
The Mayor presented two bids received for a pressure/jetter for the Community Facility Grant. The first bid was from USA Blue Book for $5195.00. The second bid was from Williams Wholesale for $5628.27. A motion was made by Johnny Sells to accept the low bid from USA Blue Book $5195.00. A second was voiced by Opal Clayborn and with all members voting aye the motion carried.
The Mayor gave an update on the state vehicle bid program and this will be discussed at a later meeting.
Under new business, the mayor informed the board that office employee Jenny Johnson and water plant employee Shane Huddleston were both up for their 3 year review. The mayor stated that both employees were favorable. A motion was made by Johnny Sells to increase Jenny Johnson and Shane Huddleston hourly wages $.50 as employee reviews are outlined in the employee hand book. A second was voiced by Glenn Parris and with all members voting aye, the motion carried.
Nathaniel Green also gave an update on the redirection of remaining water rehabilitation project money to maintance.
Under other business, Chamber of Commerce Director Billy Robbins gave an invitation to meet and greet the cast and crew from Fishing University thru the Outdoor Channel to promote fishing on Dale Hollow Lake. This will be held on Dec. 7, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the agriculture building.
With no further business to discuss a motion was made by Johnny Sells to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 9, at 4:30 at Town Hall. A second was voiced by Glenn Parris and with all members voting aye the meeting adjourned at 5:02 p.m.
