PCHS Physics Class participates in Cardboard Boat Race

PCHS Physics Class participates in Cardboard Boat RaceThe Pickett County High School Physics class participated in the 1st annual Cardboard Boat Race held at Tennessee Tech Fitness Center on November 21st.
Students from Pickett, Clay, and Jackson counties participated in the race. The students had to design and build a boat using only cardboard, and duct tape. Each school entered six boats and over 70 students participated.
The group of Tanner Rich, Jeremy White, Brittanie Sparks, and Grace Cummings finished second in two of the races.
Nathan Melton, Austin Cross, and Nick Poore also finished second in their race. Jackson County was the overall winner in the Championship race.
This was a great learning experience for the students in engineering design.
The Pickett County Physics class would like to thank Fitzgerald Glider Trucks for the cardboard, Sunset Marina for sponsoring our t-shirts, Regions Bank for sponsoring lunch, and Overton-Pickett Co-op for supplies.
This boat race is planned to be an annual event between the three schools.
